Tutoring Style and/or Experience
I get results, and I have enthusiastic references.
My specialty has become test-prep, but I am also well-versed in tutoring math, science, most social science, intermediate to advanced writing, and other subjects as well.
I use a client-centered approach, meaning that curriculum is constantly adjusted during each session with a client.
When developing organizational, study, or test-taking skills, I use a coaching-based approach. This means that I carefully ask questions that allow my client to decide on their own course of action, and to develop their own means of judging success. Typically, this results in clients feeling motivated to follow a program that they've been involved in creating.
I have experience with home-schoolers (and I welcome more!)
Students with ADD/ADHD are very welcome!
My experience includes years as an educator with the Pacific Science Center. I have designed curriculum to meet the educational requirements of two states. I have participated in several mentoring programs that connecting high-school students with 5th & 6th graders, preparing and supporting the older students as they taught the younger.
