Tutoring Style and/or Experience

All students want to learn. My job is to help them. I try to make the subject more relevant, interesting and understandable to the student.
First I try to gain the confidence of the student and appreciate his motivation. I emphasize that I am here to help him – period I try to be very sensitive to the student’s interests and ambitions. One important ground rule is if the student does not understand something, he must tell me. I will then explain using a difference approach. I will use what ever it takes to get the concept across. Students often benefit from having the concept explain in different ways. My extensive background in so many areas allows me to do this.
After understanding what the root causes of the student’s difficulties, I will use instruction to overcome these causes and strive to build self confidence in the student. We will work on as many problems as practical to reinforce the concepts. Depending upon the current needs, we make work on a homework assignment or prepare for a test.
