Tutoring Style and/or Experience
On completion of my high school, I took two certifying examinations, namely, the University of London General Certificate of Education (GCE) and the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASC). In both exams, I scored Alpha 1-Distinction in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English language, a 99.99 percentile achievement, (verification available).
While still a senior in high school, I tutored my classmates, both in my school and neighboring schools, and my high school principal appointed me “study prefect” (tutor) for the junior classes in my high school.
Because of my outstanding performance, I was awarded a six-year full academic scholarship covering tuition, boarding and books for a degree in Health Sciences. This gave me the opportunity to study college-level mathematics, chemistry, biology and physics where I also scored a Distinction.
After graduation, I was admitted to Columbia University in New York City, where I did a post-doctoral training at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. Furthermore, I attended CUNY-Law school at Queens College where I received a JD degree.
Hence, with my extensive and qualitative background in Math, Sciences, Health sciences and Law, I tutor with distinction and exceptional ability in Math, Statistics, General Sciences, Health Sciences, anatomy, reading comprehension and writing at middle school, high school and college freshman levels.
In Math, I tutor all algebra, arithmetic, geometry, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus and calculus.
In Physics, I tutor all the energy forms: mechanics (statics & dynamics), thermal (of solids, liquids, and gases, calorimetry, including co-efficients of linear, surface and volume expansions, with applications), optics (including mirrors, lenses, prisms and optic calculations), sound (including waves, echoes, musical strings, open & closed pipes, and other musical instruments), electricity, magnetism, and modern physics in similar details.
In Chemistry, I tutor inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and chemical calculations (including pH and buffers, molarity and normality, molar concentrations, valencies, equivalent weight, balancing chemical equations, gas laws, equilibrium constants and limits of chemical reactions)
In Statistics, I tutor materials including data sampling and representation, pictographs, measures of central tendency (mean, mode & median), measures of dispersion (standard deviation, variance), normal distribution, regression analysis, probability and binomial expansion).
I tutor with similar details in biology, anatomy, reading comprehension, writing and test preps.
Of course, anybody can tutor, but the difference is not only in mastering the subject, but possessing the skills and methodology to do, at the minimum, the following:
1. Reduce complex materials to simple solutions and approaches.
2. Remove any student phobia about the subject, and replace it with fun, in the mind of the student.
3. Register a definite improvement in the student, noticeable by the student, the parents and classmates within a reasonable timeframe.
I have my own custom-designed effective methodology of enhancing comprehension of difficult concepts in physics, math, chemistry and other sciences. These are what I am excellent at doing, and enjoy doing up till now.
