Awards As full time students at University of California, Berkeley, where they both graduated Summa Cum Laude with Highest University Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa, Cameron and Jessica opened a successful, nationally reviewed art gallery (www.alphonseberber.com). Following graduation they teamed up with performance artist Marina Abramovic to direct the experimental education and performance space Marina Abramovic Institute West in San Francisco. In 2012, a short time after leaving their directorial roles, they wrote an aria for composer Paul Dooley (www.pauldooley.net), Ulyssea, which was premiered to much acclaim at the Appledorn Music Fesitval in the Netherlands.

Jessica and Cameron are currently at work on a translation of French poet Francis Ponge’s Le Fabrique du Pré, and on the libretto for Paul Dooley’s full length opera Gate of Ivory Gate of Horn. As they continue with their own writing and collaborative projects, they are continually reinvigorated by their work with students and hope one day to open their own alternative school and artist residency.

While in his teens, Cameron worked for the YMCA as a youth leader and later for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club as an Assistant Athletic Director. During his years at Berkeley and while on breaks, he has been a highly successful and sought-after tutor for both Ivy West and Revolution Test Prep, where his speciality was SAT Math. In 2009 he won the Richardson Latin Translation Prize for a translation of a selection of Ovid. In the past two years, in addition to his work with Jessica, he has spent time traveling, learning across disciplines and writing. He is currently at work on a novel.

In 2011 Jessica launched her popular website Conservatory of Magic, an e-learning website that builds a foundation for education through a magical perspective. Lessons are developed with the aim of teaching to anyone who desires to learn, free of charge, in easy to understand language that still maintains academic and scientific integrity. Her experience building the website, which continues to develop, has inspired Jessica to incorporate new methods for presenting standard material to students. For what is Chemistry, really, but advanced Potions?
