Tutoring Style and/or Experience
Hi, I am a retired special education teacher and currently hold a State of Michigan Teaching Certificate. I specialize in teaching students that learn differently and students that struggle with emotional needs. I have been teaching in the public school system for 18 years . My experiences range from kindergarten to teaching high school students. Through the years, I have worked with students on the autism spectrum, ADD/ADHD, learning difficulties, cognitively impaired and students with emotional needs.
I work one-on-one with students in order to meet their individual educational needs. I am able to teach students that struggle with reading, writing and math. I focus my educational philosophy to meet the needs and teach all children. I believe that students regress during the summer months especially the students that struggle in school. I am trained to teach a remedial reading program to struggling readers and spellers. I believe in making learning fun and exciting. I use hands-on approaches and connect learning to daily life situations. Learning should be a positive experience. I am patient, experienced, enjoy kids and love to see success and happy smiles.
**** I encourage you to expose your children to academic material during the summer months. Your child can be prepared to enter the next school year and walk into school with confidence! ****
I begin collecting a baseline of data and assessing the current level of your child's reading level. This will show parents the progress that is being made. I enjoy working with parents and helping them to support their children on a daily basis.
