As a George Mason University graduate, I believe that the knowledge, discipline, and skills I have attained both academically throughout my years as a student, as well as through professional endeavors I have pursued, make me the ideal candidate for this position.
Along with maintaining an outstanding GPA of 3.6 and achieving Dean's List for 4 semesters consecutively, I am also a decorated member of my alma mater's chapter of the Golden Key International Honor Society, a renowned and distinguished group rewarding students who boast distinction through academic success of the highest caliber.
As a tutor, I catered to the academic requirements of students in various subject areas including Math, English, and Science. Furthermore, as a tutor at Falls Church High School, I carried on the duty of assisting students enrolled in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program with Math, English, and Science related subjects. Such tasks included reading and editing student papers and essays, addressing any inquiries and concerns expressed by students, and preparing advanced tutorials aimed at engaging students in debate/discussion and allowing them to apply critical thinking in a unique learning environment.
Besides my experience as a teacher, I am also an astute writer. It is this affinity and zeal for writing which allowed me to pursue a position as a published writer and editor for both my university newspaper and literary magazine
Working as a one-on-one tutor at George Mason University also allowed me to experience teaching at a more advanced collegiate level. With the Learning Services department at George Mason University, I tutored students in a wide range of subject matters including Math, Science, and Statistics. This also granted me with the opportunity to assist students in subject matters associated with my own field of study. Being a student myself at the time, such practice allowed me to sharpen my own skills in certain subject matters, thus rendering the learning experience as a two-sided one, where I learn as much from my students as they do from me.
As a teacher, I find that the learning process is mutual and students sometimes take on the role as teacher, themselves. Their feedback is always critical in tailoring my teaching methods to promote a favorable learning experience for both student and teacher. Whether it was teaching a classroom of 28 people or conducting a one-on-one tutoring session, each and every student was given the attention needed and no individual was overlooked. In fact, the most important lesson I learned from teaching came from no textbook- Learning is an eternal process and as a teacher, my goal is to take eternity and fit it into a 45 minute class as best as I can.
The lessons I have learned both within as well as outside the classroom environment have widened my scope and allowed me to excel at almost anything I desire. I realize this learning process is never ending, and therefore, I have satiated my willingness to learn by pursuing an online Master's Degree in Business Administration at Texas A&M, a field I believe will ultimately enhance my skills and my marketability both professionally as a commodity in the job market, as well as personally, as an enlightened knowledge seeker.
These attributes coupled with my endless desire to learn and excel at any task assigned to me make me confident to be a potential asset to your firm. Therefore, I am attaching my resume to this message for your perusal. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
