I truly enjoy tutoring because I can work one-on-one with a student and really focus on their needs. I am an elementary teacher who also tutors students throughout the year and in the summer in a one-on-one setting.
After discussing the needs of the child with the parent, I find or create specific activities that focus on the subject matter in which the student needs to improve. I also break the tutoring session into increments of approximately 15 minutes. After focusing on a particular subject or activity within that time frame, I move on to another activity to keep the student's interest peaked. If I find a child needs more help in that area, I will provide additional activities for the child to practice. Since tutoring is a little different from classroom teaching, I try to incorporate a variety of games and activities that will motivate a student. I also provide worksheets that will keep the child's interest and build their confidence as they practice. If requested, I can help students with homework or guide them through their own practice workbooks as well. For students who struggle with motivation, I provide sticker charts and help them set goals at each tutoring session. Once they've filled their chart or met their goal, they receive a prize.
I am confident that any of my current or previous students and their families would be willing to recommend me as a private tutor. I am a well-qualified teacher and tutor that can provide the support your child needs in a kind, professional, engaging manner!
