I have taught a wide range of ages and abilities, from elementary/beginner to advance students and I can teach groups, pairs or one-to-one. I have taught both in the UK and abroad (Cambodia and Indonesia) and therefore I am familiar with many different teaching environments. My drama background and my naturally friendly personality means I like to make the students feel relaxed and happy in class whilst ensuring they are focused and improving as much as possible. I feel confident teaching both from course books, and from my own devised materials. I enjoy teaching and believe it is important to instil a passion for learning in students which I try to do through the inclusion of elements such as role-play, games and relatable, enjoyable tasks.

Over the course of my degree, my studies covered areas such as psychology, philosophy, anthropology, history and art and dramatic studies. An interdisciplinary approach was paramount in order to carry out research and produce critical essays and showpieces. Some performances required strong team working and leadership skills whilst others were individual efforts where I was solely responsible for the researching, scriptwriting, casting, producing, directing, technical set up, staging and performing. For my final performance, I spent the academic year gathering information and conducting thorough research into my chosen subject, including interviews, filming, polls and visual, written and audio documentation. I used my knowledge of theatre and media to organize, script, produce and construct my own art installation piece of drama, accompanied by a comprehensive research portfolio of the work I had conducted, for which I received a 1st.

Position: Admin/Office Assistant
Often work a few days each month on administrative duties for the childrenswear shop my mother manages. This includes ordering stock and maintaining the stock database, ensuring the wholesale transactions are up to date, monitoring the website and the customer mailing lists, issuing invoices and making payments, filing and copywriting. This ongoing work means I am proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I am also familiar and comfortable with Apple Macs.

Position: Sales Assistant
This position included a wide range of tasks: e.g. floor control, weekly reports, competitor analysis and driving targets for the company.
One of the key achievements during my employment was a project to improve stock management. I realised that the organisation of the stockroom could be greatly improved if a more efficient system was put in place. I reorganised the stock and, whilst doing so, I also noticed that vital space was being wasted by obsolete stock that had been overlooked in transfers, which in turn was causing a loss of sales due to insufficient supplies of demanded styles. With the permission of my manager, I organised a large transfer to several warehouses, and created a more efficient stockroom, which boosted sales.

Position: Sales Assistant
After initial training, I ran the shop by myself, dealing with everything ranging from customer purchases, advice and information on interior designers, opening and closing the store, cashing up, house-keeping, ordering appropriate furniture and contacting companies/designers/artists. This job required a lot of responsibility when working alone and helped develop independent decision-making and a professional attitude as well as a broad knowledge of modern interior/furniture designers.


Teaching: I have successfully qualified a CELTA course with a pass grade of B, and have a natural flair and genuine interest in teaching, which I feel is vital in making the teaching environment engaging and enjoyable for both students and teacher alike. I have partaken in over 140 hours of input sessions that included 6 hours of teaching and 6 hours of observing professional teachers. During my CELTA I learned the importance of understanding, planning and student centric lessons as all students learn differently. I greatly enjoyed my teaching practice and felt I had a clear understanding of everything I had learnt, and had honed my approach to teaching to a professional standard.

Teamwork: I have needed excellent teamwork skills in all of my previous positions, but in particular whilst at Argos for a year prior to university. The fast-paced and high-pressure environment required us to work as a cohesive unit from the checkout to the warehouse in order to meet customer demands in a timely and efficient manner. I enjoyed working with an experienced team of individuals and was happy to support colleagues in various roles and tasks when needed.

Creativity: I am a highly imaginative person with a natural creative flair. I am a talented actress having performed many amateur and professional productions both in theatre and in the live art sector. I have also been a keen artist and designer from a young age, having my work displayed in a gallery for young artists and continuing my fashion designing, animation and sketching hobby in my spare time. I love to read and have a strong passion for creative writing, which I am very proficient at. This has been aided by my degree and I was constantly praised on my ability to articulate and create strong imagery with my creative writing tasks, intended to inspire my audience.

Leadership/Initiative: I feel I promote a sense of leadership and initiative when appropriate in many of my positions of responsibility. In my role at Argos, I was head of customer services in which I had to take control of customer complaints, returns and queries. This required a level-headed leader to make instinctive and business-like decisions. The fast-paced retail environment meant my leadership skills were vital during busy sales times.

Communication: I am a naturally confident and energetic speaker and an attentive listener. As a drama graduate my degree has boosted my already outgoing nature to make public speaking second nature to me, and I enjoy conversing with people whether one-to-one, as a group, professional or personally. Furthermore, the CELTA course I completed has enabled me to hone my communication skills and adapt and apply them to the teaching environment.

Versatility: Having worked in retail, I have gained many attributes that can be transferable to other careers, such as understanding clientele and targeting/focusing the business accordingly. I also have experience in a variety of other sectors, including looking after young children. Most importantly I am a fast learner meaning I can adapt to new environments and systems quickly.
