I have teacher certification from both New York and Florida.
My strengths are in working with middle-school students from a wide variety of backgrounds, including lower-income, disadvantaged youth, or English language learners.
I have had a lot of success working with students who have Individualized Education Plans (IEP's) and helping them to identify areas they can improve in math.
My approach is student-centered, and I work to identify each child's specific needs in approaching a variety of problem solving techniques. I implement mnemonics to assist memory, and emphasize repetition to improve fluency.
From past experiences, I find that it is important for students to reteach what they understand, and often give students the chance to explain things in their own words.
My hours are extremely flexible, and my rates are negotiable, dependent mostly on both travel time and families' individual circumstances.
