I am currently a freshman in college. I am in the Honors Program at Appalachian State University and my cumulative GPA is a 4.0.
I have helped my younger cousins with math on several occasions and have taught a number of beginners and high school students how to play the flute. I love being really engaged in with the student I am teaching; that is, not only sitting and explaining how to do something but showing by example, visual aids, or a little song to help remember something. I also love to incorporate something for kinesthetic learners because movement has always helped me to remember things.
During high school, I competed in math competitions and consistently finished in the top 50 in the state of North Carolina, sometimes scoring as high as 2nd in North Carolina. While I am pursuing a performance degree on the flute, I have taken math up through Calculus II and intend to take a few more math courses before graduating. I am also considering a minor in Education because I love teaching!
