For the past 8 years, I've been tutoring students in grades 3-12 & college (undergraduate and some graduate level) for many subject areas (math, english/reading, science, latin/greek, social science, social studies, psychology, statistics, etc.) and national standardized tests like the ISAT, ACT, SAT, GED, GRE math, and Nursing Entrance Exams. I started out tutoring elementary school students and gradually increased the number and difficulty of the subjects I tutor for, as my education and experience developed.
I enjoy tutoring because I love seeing the 'lightbulb' go on when students understand the material. In a typical tutoring session, you can expect me to gauge the student's strengths and weaknesses to assess his/her needs. I break down difficult concepts and help them integrate important study/prioritizing skills into their decision making outside the tutoring sessions so that they gain an overall increase in productivity and motivation. My goal is to help students excel beyond what's expected of them and become life-long learners. All my students show an improvement in their grades and attitude toward learning. And of course, I am also a learner in the process since each student brings something valuable to the table as well.
I also try my best to work with parents in scheduling/pricing, and constantly update them on students' progress. Group tutoring is also available at special rates.
