I currently have several great students who I'm tutoring in Geometry and Algebra I. I have excellent written and communication skills. I also bring a great deal of enthusiasm to every session, which helps the student stay engaged. I'm not shy when it comes to praising my students when they work hard to figure out difficult concepts, because I find that building a student's confidence is critical.
After all, those tests can be tough and have a strict time limit. A student who has done the work and is confident in their ability to succeed is more likely to remain calm and focused. Then they'll be able to work through the problems with fewer mistakes.
