What if your kids began to believe in themselves as much as you believe in them?

Kids deserve a chance to shine in their academic lives. Many students who struggle have been told too often that they are not doing enough, or are not paying attention in school, when they are in fact doing everything they can to stay afloat academically. We first work to help students realize the high expectations their teachers and parents have of them. We then assist them in building their skills, organizing their thoughts, and communicating their ideas so that they may meet and exceed those expectations, and in turn, boost their grades.

Here at LakeView/Lake Forest Academic Services, we see every child's learning style as unique, having strengths that have gotten them to progress to this point. We work to find the strengths within the child first, and then help them through our tutoring services to build upon those strengths so that they can be empowered to feel success in school and in their personal lives. Our tutors and consultants use research based and classroom proven methodologies to assist children to develop their potential and achieve their goals.

To accomplish these goals we employ tutors and academic coaches of the highest quality. We have Math tutors, Reading tutors, tutors for Writing, Science, History and all other pertinent subjects. All tutors are either certified teachers or Phd level graduate students. Our reading tutors utilize the most cutting-edge tactics. We will adapt any and all programs to the specific needs of the child and personalize all services. Our reading tutors are all trained in multisensory reading methods and many are Wilson trained or Wilson certified tutors. Our tutors also specialize in test preparation and are familiar with all tests taken by their students. They are able to offer test preparation for tests including the ISAT, ISEE, PSAT, SAT, SSAT, and ACT. Our tutors have had excellent success in ISAT test preparation and some have provided workshops in Chicago public schools on ISAT preparation techniques. Often our students are able to move up 20% or more in their ISAT test scores.

All tutors are well experienced in the content area they are teaching and with all learning styles. Additionally, all tutors have gone through extensive background checks.

In addition, we provide services for students who struggle with school because of learning differences. We specialize in offering support to students with Dyslexia, ADHD and ADD, and other learning challenges. Other tutors work with students who are not being challenged with their current curriculum. We assist gifted and twice exceptional students by providing enrichment and help to boost not only their grades and knowledge, but also their esteem and confidence.

With all of our students we work on building independence by teaching organizational and study skills. We work to ensure each student develops a knowledge of their own learning style and begins to employ methods in their study habits so that they study in ways that compliment their learning style. We also teach students how to self advocate in the classroom and seek help from the resources that are available to them.

Lastly, we offer tutors and consultants to help parents navigate the school system in order to help their students succeed. We assist parents in understanding the school resources available to them and how to successfully advocate for their children within the school system. At times, we will act as advocates for students and communicate with the school regarding IEP and 504s plans or simply to help teachers understand the learning styles of the children we serve. We will also share information with parents regarding the selective enrollment process. Chicago selective enrollment schools, both at the elementary and high school level, have certain processes by which to apply. We can help parents understand the process, help students with selective enrollment test preparation, and otherwise illustrate to parents how to help their students to be accepted into selective enrollment schools, gifted schools, and magnet cluster schools.

We work with students in grades K-12 of all ability levels. Tutors have experience working with students with dyslexia, add, adhd, and learning difficulties. Additionally, many of our tutors have worked with gifted and twice exceptional (2e) students to help them find enrichment and motivation in their academic programs.

Tutors work in-home in the Chicago land, Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Libertyville areas to help students gain confidence and achieve better grades. Tutors work with the parents and students to help children learn organizational and study skills to gain academic success and become independent.

Our job is to work ourselves out of a job and we take this job very seriously.
