By day, I am a hydrogeologist, but I also enjoy teaching and helping students, which I fulfill by tutoring in the evenings and weekends.
As for my education, I have a Bachelor of Science in environmental geology from California State University, San Bernardino (3.7 GPA) as well as a Master of Science in geology (hydrogeology emphasis) from California State University, Fullerton (3.9 GPA). For both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, I graduated at the top of my class within the geology department. Coursework for my degrees have included knowledge of geology, hydrology, math, chemistry, physics, biology, and well as demonstrated proficiency in academic and professional writing.
During my Master's degree, I had the opportunity to assist in teaching both Geology 101 and a senior-level hydrogeology course, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Since then, I have also tutored at the college-level in subjects including math, environmental science, geology and English.
While most of my tutoring has been at the college-level, I enjoy working with children and adults of all ages, whether it be helping a young child with his/her reading skills, a high school student with preparation of standardized testing or a college student in his/her writing, math or science coursework.
I don't know that I would say I have style of tutoring as every student is different and has different needs. Nothing beats witnessing the light bulb turn on when the student grasps the subject!
