Notwithstanding many people's high school experiences with it, math can actually be fun once you understand it. Really. Like puzzles :)
I'm a former test-prep teacher who now tutors for the math portions of standardized admissions tests like the SAT, GRE and GMAT, and junior high through college intro math courses. I can help you or your child understand math better if you need help reviewing for a test or course. Your understanding of the material and logic involved is the key to being able to do well, so we'll need to make sure you have a solid foundation and understand the different math basics you need for the test, and work on how to apply those skills to answer the questions.
We'll also learn various techniques you can use to make life easier on the test, and how and when its best to apply them. And then its just practice makes perfect--one step you can't skip is repetition of enough problems for you to become comfortable with them and able to solve them consistently on the test. So, we'll work together to make sure your understanding is there and you're doing the steps right, and then for homework you'll repeat the problems to get them down and be able to solve them at a good pace on the test.
Please contact me with any questions you have, or for a copy of my CV or references from my former schools and students. I've taught test-prep classes for the various standardized tests at Baruch College, and tutored many private students preparing for the standardized tests or working on middle school through college intro math courses, as well as students at Harlem Village Academy, a top charter school, and got perfect scores on the SAT, GRE and GMAT math sections.
Thanks for reading, and I hope we can start working toward your higher score or grade soon!
