Tutoring Style and/or Experience

Reading and writing are invaluable skills, as they provide the foundation for all areas of study and all careers. These skills develop students' critical thinking as well, as students work through a difficult text or struggle with putting ideas into writing - or even developing ideas through the process of writing.

I strive to help students reach their "A-ha!" moments: the moments when a student is able to make a meaningful connection in a text or develop and support an original thesis. Such moments of clarity help students grow confident in their skills and understand the power of language and ideas – of their language and ideas.

With a Bachelor's degree in Communications and a Master's degree in English, I feel very comfortable working with students interested in learning more about various types of writing as well as reading comprehension. I taught college composition courses for 3 years, I have worked in marketing and broadcast television, and I currently work as a communications manager in the Twin Cities.

Contact me today to discuss how I might help you or your student gain confidence through improved reading and writing skills – I’d love to help your student get to his or her “A-ha!” moment!
