Hello, my name is Zach, and my goal is to make learning how to write a good paper fun for you. I specialize in English Literature, Composition, and both Literary and Film Theory from the high school through the undergraduate levels, and have a comprehensive understanding of composition from the basic five-paragraph essay into the more complex essay structures expected at higher levels of education. I have a knowledge of all MLA guidelines and standards, am equally proficient with research- and argumentative-style essay composition, and can effectively communicate the often complex expectations that teachers have for students in a way that is easily understood. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, graduating summa cum laude at ASU in spring 2014, and have a passion for helping students to achieve excellence and reach their own academic goals and dreams. I have a year of tutoring experience, and the students I have mentored now have writing skills that will enrich their lives forever.
I am interested in helping students realize what they want from themselves, and in successfully communicating this in their writing; essentially, my tutoring style focuses on generating a subjective relationship to and interest in the material rather than on a formulaic, objective or catch-all approach to composition. Generating interest in the subject is essential to effective writing: I can help you achieve this perspective and the excellent grades that come with it. I have had to write many papers on subjects that I didn't initially find interesting, yet through focusing in on an aspect of the material that I could relate to on a subjective level, or an aspect that related to something I was interested in, I was able to generate the interest to make the grades I needed; this is what I would like to help you to do as well. I am always punctual, have reliable transportation, and am ready to help you transform your academic dreams into realities!
