I am willing to come to your home or meet at a local library. One-on-one learning is very important for students' development, and I aim to provide fun and effective tools for conquering concepts. I adjust my teaching style based on the skill level and goals.
I am a recent graduate (May 2008) of Columbia University. My degree is in Engineering Management Systems, which is an undergraduate major geared towards students who will likely pursue an MBA, and had an extremely math-heavy education. I am able to tutor up to college levels of various math subjects, including lower-level general courses for all age-ranges. Recently I have tutored a 9th grader in geometry and an adult-professional in calculus so that she could pass her entrance exams for college.
I used most of my electives in college for liberal arts classes, however, and my current career (public relations) lends itself to the English/writing fields so I am very comfortable tutoring in those subjects as well. I am quite proficient in Spanish and currently have one student in high school Spanish. Depending on the age of your child, I would be able to tutor in multiple subjects or just be a good study partner. For many kids, that's all they need.
I am available on weeknights and weekends. I will reduce my rate by at least $5/hour if more than one hour is scheduled per session.
