I am new to individual tutoring, but have taught history at the college level for almost ten years. Through my work with college students, I have seen bright individuals who struggle to succeed in their first year of college because they did not master content or necessary study skills during their formative years. With my background in education and a real love for history, I can help motivate and educate students to achieve not only at the elementary and high school level, but also to better prepare themselves for collegiate work.
I have an undergraduate degree in education from Texas A & M University and a master's degree in history from Stephen F. Austin State University. I am currently completing a doctorate in American history from Texas Christian University. I have taught at TCU, SFA, UT Tyler and Lon Morris College, and also have experience working with reading instruction at the junior high level.
I believe all students who are willing to invest their time and effort with a tutor can expect stronger academic performance. My goal is to not only help them achieve that better grade, but also to help identify their academic strengths and challenges, build study strategies, and master course content so that they can advance to their next level with confidence.
